Improving our community

We help older adults of the villages of Ockbrook and Borrowash by:

Increasing confidence
and self-esteem

It can be easy to lose confidence as you get older. Loneliness, isolation, ill health or bereavement can make you feel less capable than you once did. We can help you find new friends and do new things. Just knowing there’s a friendly voice at the end of a telephone can help you feel so much better.

Improving relationships across the community

We have well established links with our local schools, businesses, churches, pubs, cafes and community groups. We are able to provide activities that bring people together from different backgrounds and ages who share a variety of interests. All are welcome.

Reducing isolation
and social exclusion

As we get older it is often easy to feel cut off from other people or unable to take part in activities others take for granted. We offer free or low cost services that help you connect with other people and take part in activities you love.

Health benefits and social opportunities

How will I benefit from joining Borrowbrook?

Research shows that doing physical activity, taking part in interesting activities, and chatting with other people is essential for everyone’s physical and mental health. Borrowbrook will help you to feel connected to your local community, to find new friends, and find people who will listen to you and care about you. You will always have someone to turn to if you need advice or a listening ear. Our project co-ordinator Rachel is only a phone call away: 07596 824 505.

Borrowbrook’s services are for anyone aged 60 or over who lives in Ockbrook or Borrowash.
